Hi Everyone, Hope you are all well, The club has been busy trying to work out how to stay safe and maintain club operations during these difficult times. Attached is the clubs current Covid19 policy for club activities. We will be resuming club flat water practice (More info to come) and lending out club gear to club members. At this time we will not be resuming club river trips. Unfortunately we have also made the difficult decision to cancel this years VWC Chilliwack social. If you would like to borrow club gear, please email vancouverwhitewater@gmail.com with your request. Gear will only be lent out to members who send us a email to help keep track :) Happy paddling and hope to see you all out on the river with time.

GEAR: Dont forget that all club gear MUST be returned to the club before the VWC Social this weekend. If you are coming to the social then bring it along and we will collect it on Friday night. Otherwise make sure you arrange to get it returned in time. We will need all the club gear for the weekend. GEAR FOR THE FESTIVAL: We will then be lending out club gear on a day basis on Saturday and Sunday morning at 9.30AM from the trailer, First come first served. You MUST be a paid member of the VWC club to borrow club gear. You can pay your yearly club membership online at https://www.vanwhitewater.com/membership We will also be lending out gear to club members for the remainder of the season on Sunday evening. This will be one of the last chances to borrow club gear for the season. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the festival!

Some info to be aware of when paddling the cap. I was talking with Metro Vancouver today and they have installed some flow measurement gauges on the cap for fish studies, They asked me to pass this on to anyone paddling the cap. See below In regard to the Capilano instrumentation I wanted you to be aware of, please reference the below image. There are five sites as shown on the map (red dots) with a small amount of instrumentation at each. It was deployed last week and is expected to remain in the water at least through 2019. The installations were completed with paddler safety in mind but we wanted to make your community aware regardless. The uppermost and lowermost sites present some potential risk; the most upstream logger location has an anchor attached at the top of a boulder with flagging and a short way downstream our logger it attached to rebar embedded in the channel bottom. The last location is a similar setup with the rebar closer to the back side of the boulder. At the middle sites the loggers are installed in pipes anchored to the back of large boulders.
