THE VWC PRESENTS - THE 2018 CHILLIWAK RIVER TAMAHAI SOCIAL! 

 

An Epic Canadian summer weekend at the iconic Tamihi Campground. Imagine, perfect weather, great people, a classic B.C. river, and the Vancouver Whitewater Club community building event to kick off Summer 2018! 

Come one, Come all to this family friendly celebration of whitewater paddle sports.  Kayakers, Canoeists, Rafts, Duckies 
SUP's and Unicorns welcome. 

The Chilliwack River has something for all levels and abilities class 2 to class 4. Runs will be organized and shuttled by those participating. Beginner runs happening at least once a day, dependant on support. (Shredders please consider supporting 
your fellow paddlers just starting out!)

Free BBQ for everyone Saturday night! Gourmet menu from our resident chef : Juicy Smokies, Succulent Hotdogs w/veg options available by request & the best damn homemade coleslaw in Chilliwack. Feel free to grill your own food on our bbq too if you like.

Camping costs 

Camping will be $25/car for one night and $40/car for two nights. Cash Only, collected at the campground, fees only cover renting the 50 best sites. Its going to be huge! [No, we do not take CREDITS CARDS OR CHEQUES–sorry!]

River runs on the Chilliwack River:
This quick summary of river runs on the Chilliwack River is only an overview and doesn’t replace a guidebook. To avoid incidents, please ask in advance for water levels and hazards at the registration desk and always watch out for wood and other obstacles on the river.

Grades are valid for low and medium water levels only!

 

 

Surrounding Area:
Chilliwack has all services, many are open all weekend. There are several banks with ATM’s on Vedder road (main road from the highway to the river) – in case you forgot money for the raffle or auction. You can also find a Wal-mart, Canadian Tire, several grocery stores, gas, etc. In other words, if you forget something, it can be found close by.

What to bring:

* Own Water

* Own coffee or tea

* Own cutlery, plates, and cups for all meals

* Own meals for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. (Free BBQ provided Saturday night!) 

* Hot dog and buns will be provided. 

* Camping and kayaking gear

* Cash (Canadian dollars) for registration and silent auction, raffle

Safety:
Familiarize yourself with the Emergency Action Plan posted at the registration area. ALL PADDLERS MUST ATTEND THE SAFETY MEETING ON SATURDAY MORNING. If you have any concerns or questions, please ask. Remember that YOU are responsible for your safety at all times.

What to consider:

Carpool! We strongly encourage people to carpool to the social. Able to give a ride? Need a ride? Post on the forum.

Location

We’ve booked the Tamihi Campground in Chilliwack.  That’s the campground along the Chilliwack River and the site of the Festival.
