Hi Everyone! We hope that everyone had an awesome year of paddling so far. Fingers crossed that we get some more rain and time on the river before 2018 is upon us. We have a few events coming up in the next two months. The AGM is scheduled for Tues Nov 22nd at Big Rock Brewery starting at 7pm. The address is 310 W 4th Ave, Vancouver, BC V5Y 1G9. Please join us for a social affair where we will start planning events for the club. We have made some changes to the structure of the executive and will be approving these changes as a club at the AMG. We will also be looking for individuals to fill these positions. If you are interested in any of these position and want more information before the meeting, please contact Jess or Chris with any questions. We would love to have people who are passionate about the sport and growing our community. President VP/Secretary Treasurer (Including Membership) Pool Session/ Equipment Coordinator (Recruit committee to help them) Activities Director/Trip Coordinator Website/Media 3 Directors at Large The Christmas Party will be hosted by Ray and Steph in East Vancouver on December 2ND starting at around 8 pm at their place, 1333 Lakewood Drive, East Vancouver. Please bring your own alcohol and something to share if you feel so inclined. There have been some inquiries into pool sessions. We are looking for people to help make them happen! If you are interested in having more pool sessions to go through the session, we need your help. There have also been some questions regarding the club as a whole. With social media and a variety of different platforms, having a club has become less of a necessity. While we believe it helps the community grow and there is fulfillment in paying it forward, we have been limping along for a few years now. We are in desperate need of people who want to give back in some way. If you want to see the club continue, we want to hear from you. We look forward to seeing everyone on Nov 22nd. Bring your ideas and the stoke! Kayaking is the best.

Lynn Creek is a another class 4 canyon and north shore classic that is most often paddled during periods of heavy rain, there is a visual gauge located at Bridgeman park at the takeout. Wood is sometimes in play and shifting around during heavy rains.

The Capilano river is a class 3 (4 at high water) box canyon run in north Vancouver, it consists of a series of pool drops which eventually taper out into an canyon with small bolder gardens which eventually ends near the Lions gate bridge as it flows into the ocean. below are the approximate flow and gauge correlations Guage 2; 20 cms 3; 30 cms 4; 50 cms 5; 70 cms 6; 90 cms 7; 115 cms 8; 140 cms *9; 160 cms *10; 200 cms * these levels are over the weir and are approximations, be aware that a powerful and unavoidable recirculating hydraulic forms around these levels (video here https://vimeo.com/151471317)

Only the trips on the authorized Vancouver Whitewater Club (VWC) trip schedule are sanctioned as club trips and as such fall under our insurance policy. These trips should be labeled as “VWC Club Trip” in the subject line. All other trips on this message board are informal/casual trips and not official VWC club trips. The Vancouver Kayak Club, its directors and volunteers assume no responsibility for these trips.
